3. The maximum theoretical thermal efficiency n for a heat engine is TH - Tc n = TH where Ty is the highest and Tc the lowest temperature of the working gas during the cycle. In a test car equipped with a Stirling engine the highest temperature in the cycle is 700 °C and the lowest 100 °C. Calculate the maximum theoretical efficiency. Answer: 61.7 %
