Which explanation is most chemically accurate for why you should
not short-circuit a battery (i.e. connect the terminals directly to
each other with a wire without anything else for resistance)?
it will explode
unwanted side reactions could produce unwanted gases
the redox reaction will happen so fast that it will use up all
of the reactants
it won't work that way since you need at least a voltmeter in
the circuit
