Manufacturer Specifications on Product: Sole cushioning data is displayed below in Table 1. Our team of material engineers tested how different layers of cushioning affected the mass and stability of shoes. Table 1: Mass and Stability Data for Different Layers of Cushioning Layers of Cushioning Mass (kg) +/- 0.02 1 0.15 Stability (angle shoe starts to tip at (degrees) +/- 2 High (55") Medium-High (49") Medium (14") 2 0.30 3 0.45 4 0.60 Low (40) 5 0.75 Very Low (36") Figure 1: Maximum force data versus time of impact of a foot striking a force sensor 00 -1000 Hope The graph to the right, Figure 1, shows data taken from the average footstrike of two different people wearing different layers of cushioning on their test shoes. The two lines of best fit represent an 80 kg runner and a 60 kg runner's average force and time of impact as measured by a Vemier force plate. At just 23 years of age, she is looking to improve her salary from well over $50,000 to near $70,000. This job puts a lot of demands on her shoes For safety reasons, she absolutely demands that the soles of the shoes be nonconductive. To get the job done, she sometimes has to crawl into unfinished attics and basements so she needs her shoes to have excellent traction and stability. For these same conditions, she would ideally like them to be waterproof as well. While not the top priority, she wants some cushioning because she is often on her feet carrying heavy tools and wiring. When asked about a popular existing shoe she said, "I'm not wearing them out with friends, so I don't need to pay for all the extra designs, I just need them to support me to get my job done."
