In 1992, comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 came within, let’s say 3.2
Jupiter radii of the planet and subsequently broke into 9 pieces
which on their next pass in 1994, impacted Jupiter itself. You can
assume that the comet was a rubble pile (strengthless).
a. Using the Roche limit for regolith on a rigid impactor's
surface, estimate the minimum density of Shoemaker-Levy 9 in this
case. (Answer in kgm-3 using 2 sig. figs.)
