Cards XE VUCUJE WERS In view of the heavy workload faced by hospitals, providing home health care is an alternative solution to enable delivery of good health care for the population and reduce hospital admissions Collaborating with local hospitals. a non-governmental organization is running a weekly transportation service to deliver medicines and medical equipment from community pharmacy stores to patients residing in different parts of the city. Each vehicle is driven by a volunteer driver accompanied by a murse who will also bring the patients' biological specimens back to a hospital lab for analysis to monitor their health condition. Depending on patient requests and health condition in each week, some or all patient locations will be visited by a vehicle and a nurse. The environmentally concerned director of the organization is considering both the vehicle travelling cost and the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from vehicles. The weekly costs and pollution are affected by a number of variables: • Vehicle travel distance depends on patient locations required to be visited and the route taken by the volunteer driver Petrol cost per litre fluctuates from time to time and varies among petrol companies • CO2 emission per litre of petrol depends on the vehicle type . To estimate the weekly cost and CO2 emission for running the transportation service, the director has obtained the following past data on the three variables: Number Vehicle travel Number of Petrol cost Number of CO2 emission in kg of weeks distance in km observations per litre observations per litre of petrol (D) © (E) 3 30 6 $17.29 12 4 45 8 $17.59 18 2.3 3 52 12 $19.39 12 2.6 2 60 14 $21.29 8 2.7 2.1 As volunteer drivers use their own vehicles in the transportation and nurses are employed by hospitals, the organization simply reimburse the volunteer driver on the vehicle travelling cost in a week. The fuel efficiency for a small typical vehicle running in the city can be assumed to be 13.15 km per litre of petrol. (This means the vehicle can run 13.15 km for each litre of petrol used.) a) Determine an expression for the vehicle travelling cost in a week in terms of the fuel efficiency n ULTRA FAST
service in the follow c) Develop the cumulative distribution function for the variables D. Cand E. respectively. (6 marks) d) To simulate each of the three variables for a 4-week period, random numbers are generated between 00 and 99. Specifically for each variable, the random numbers are given by: Variable Week 1 2 3 4 Vehicle travel distance (D) 65 30 87 15 Petrol costo 11 21 7 69 CO, emission (E) 11 35 44 Use the random numbers in the table to simulate the three variables in each of the 4 weeks.
