An instructor in the Physical Education department at a small local high school has contacted you to determine the effectiveness of a peer support group in assisting adolescents in gaining muscle strength while lifting weights. The instructor has three weight lifting classes. You have the great idea that one of his weight lifting classes could receive peer support the second class could continue lifting on an individual basis with instructor supervision; and the third class would be left on their own without instructor supervision or lifting expectations. You decide that an effect would be noticed in terms of the number of pounds each person increases in their total weight lifting regimen. After a one month period you collect the following data: Class 1: Peer Support Class 2: Instructor Supervision Class 3: Control 22 16 17 18 6 10 13 13 8 4 8 6 4 5 2
