Hence, the bur- den of tobacco-related cancers has been generally lower among Latter-day Saints than non-Latter- day Saints. In Utah during the years 1995–1999, the number of smoking-related deaths was 1,184 (person-years = 3,035,897) for Latter-day Saints and 794 (person-years = 916,859) for non-Latter-day Saints.
