The 13 m long steel beam shown in Figure 5 has a mass of 850 kg and is being hoisted into position by the force P = 5.5kN applied to the dolly on which end B is secured. The cable AC is attached to point A which is the geometric as well as the mass centre of the beam. If the system starts from rest in the dotted position, (a) Determine the angular velocity of the beam when the dolly reaches the position when B is directly under C and AC horizontal, and (b) calculate the tension in the cable AC at this position.
