(4 marks) 6. (a) (1) State the assumptions made for an ideal iron-core transformer. (ii) Briefly explain why electricity is transmitted in very high voltage from the generating plant to the load centres. (4 marks) (6) Figure 6(b) shows an ideal transformer working at full load capacity. The tum ratio of the transformer is 4:1. Given that the supply voltage is 220 V a.c. and the load impedance value of Z is 10+j6 2. Assume the transformer is ideal. Ip Is О. EP Es N Figure 6(b) (1) Determine the output voltage across the load Z (3 marks) (11) Determine the primary current I, and the secondary current Is of the (6 marks) transformer in polar form. (iii) Find out the impedance of the load referred to the primary side in polar (3 marks) form. (iv) If there is a high frequency noises happened on the secondary side, will (2 marks) it affect the circuit in the primary side? Give your answer with explanation (v) Suggest THREE applications of a single-phase voltage transformer. (3 marks) - End of Questions -
