1. Prior to undertaking a building survey of a pre 1920s terraced house, you have been asked by the purchaser to advise on the recommended survey type. In the initial discussion they have said that vertical cracking has been observed to both sides where the single storey flat roofed kitchen extension meets the original building. Your knowledge of the area is such that the soil conditions are usually non cohesive BUT there has been reported a mature tree in the garden close to the rear extension. (a) Detail the key differences between the different survey types and recommend the one most appropriate to the purchaser.
