A two-bed carbon adsorption system shown below is to be designed to handle 8,000 acfm of air containing 700 ppm of hexane. Laboratory studies indicate that carbon can adsorb 8 lb hexane per 100 lb carbon under the conditions at which the system will be operated. a) If the system is to operate at 90°F and 1.0 atm at a removal efficiency of 99%, determine the approximate dimensions of each carbon bed.
