The Missouri Department of Education is interested in improving the curriculum for 5 graders and has hired Truman State University to create a new program of study. Following months of intensive research and discuss a new curriculum was developed. To test the new curriculum, two classes of 5 graders are randomly chosen from the Kirksville Elementary School with one class being given the current program and another being given the new program of study. At the end of the year the students take the standard test of basic skills and their scores are summarized below New Curriculum I=79.47 S=4.385 n=21 Current Curriculum x = 75.07 3 = 2.265 1-31 1. Test(a -0,05) to see if the students perform better under the new curriculum. Be sure to verify your assumptions. 2. Test (a =0.05 ) to see if there is any difference in consistency i.e. variability of the students under the two curriculum [Note - place the new curriculum in the top of the test static) 3. Reviewing your answers from 1 & 2, what can you conclude about the new program versus the old program. (Think about advantages and disadvantages).
