7. [0/1 Points] DETAILS PREVIOUS ANSWERS HRW9 23.P.045. MY NOTES ASK YOUR TEACHER PRACTICE ANOT Two charged concentric spherical shells have radii of 10.5 cm and 14.5 cm. The charge on the inner shell is 3.70 x 10-8 C and that on the outer shell is 2.50 x 10-8 C. Find the magnitude of the electric field at the following points. (a) at r= 11.5 cm 2.25e4 XN/C (b) at r= 19.5 cm 2.64e4 X N/C The important lesson in Gauss' law is that the flux of electric field through a closed surface is set by the net charge enclosed by the surface. (a) You want the field at a given radius, which is between the shells. Do you see that you need to use a Gaussian sphere o radius? How much charge is enclosed by this Gaussian sphere? (b) Now you want the field outside both shells. What Gaussian surface should you now use, and how much charge does it enclose?
