E. i. Develop an equivalent circuit model of the electrode-electrolyte interface that 10% incorporates the four factors of: 1) the concentration difference tending to force metal atoms across the interface; 2) the double-layer of charge built up at the interface; 3) the leakage of charge across the interface, and; 4) the tendency of the resistive electrolyte to impede current flow. 10% ii. Toward what values (in terms of the labelled components of your equivalent circuit) does the impedance of the electrode-electrolyte junction tend for: 1) very low frequencies, and; 2) for very high frequencies? iii. Hence, determine the values of the electrode circuit model for a specific electrode 20% which has been characterized as follows in the lab: It was placed in a physiological saline bath along with a Ag/AgCl electrode having a much larger surface area (so that the impedance of the Ag/AgCl reference electrode is negligibly small) and with a known half-cell potential of Ea = 0.27 V. The DC voltage between the two electrodes was thus measured as Vo = 0.69 V with the test electrode as shown in Figure 3. Impedance was also measured as a function of frequency, which gives the graph in the figure. Calculate all four equivalent circuit model component values.
