Problem 4: Circular Polarization Consider the following plane wave Ē(r, t) = Re[Eoe¹(kz−wt) (î+ iŷ)], W = = kc. (1) (a) Find B(r, t) using Faraday's law, and verify that Ē(r, t) and B(r, t) satisfy all four of Maxwell's equations in vacuum. (b) Describe how the magnitudes and directions of the Ē and B fields change with time at a fixed position in space. (c) Find the Poynting vector 5 and describe how its magnitude and direction change with time. (d) Find the intensity of the wave and compare with Griffiths (9.63).
