Consider two events that take place at the origin of system O′, at times t′1 = 0 and t′2 = τ. System O′ moves with constant speed v with respect to another inertial frame O.
a. Use the Lorentz transformations to show that the events in O lie on the line x=vt at times t1 =0 and t2 =γτ. Show that the events in O take place at positions x1 = 0 and x2 = γ vτ , and therefore not at the same place.
