A) In the experiment to measure latent heat of ice, you get the
following data. What is the latent heat of ice in J/kg? (answer
within +-3% will considered correct) (Since the numbers are
chosen randomly, the answer may not represent
the actual value of latent heat)
MASSES: water= 183 g, ice=48 g,
calorimeter=77 g
INITIAL TEMPERATURES: water+calorimeter=30ºC, Ice=0ºC
Final equilibrium temp=13ºC
Calorimeter is made of aluminum.
B) In the previous problem, if the temperature of ice were
actually -10ºC, but was taken to be 0ºC in the calculation, how
would that affect the calculated answer?
a) Our calculated value is bigger than the actual
b) Our calculated value is the same as actual.
c) Our calculated value is smaller than the actual
