Problem 4 (25 Points) A person has a near point of 50 cm and a far point of 80 cm. The distance between the cornea-lens and the retina is 2 cm. (a) Find the smallest and the largest refractive power of the cornea-lens system (unit in diopters). (b) If the person wants to see objects as close as 20 cm. Find the refractive power of eyeglasses the person should use. Assume there is no gap between the eyeglasses and the eyes. (c) When wearing eyeglasses described in (b), what is the furthest object that can be seen clearly by the person? Assume there is no gap between the eyeglasses and the eyes. (d) When wearing eyeglasses described in (b), the person can see an object at 22 cm away clearly. What is the corresponding refractive power of the cornea-lens system? Assume there is no gap between the eyeglasses and the eyes.
