a) With aid of graphs describe the energy transformation which occurs during one complete undamped oscillation of a body suspended vertically from a spiral spring. b) A spiral spring of natural length 300 mm is suspended vertically from a fixed point with its upper end fixed. A mass of 0.150 kg is suspended from the lower end of the spring and its length increases to 355 mm. The mass is then pulled down a further distance of 30 mm and released from rest so it oscillates about the equilibrium. i) Calculate the spring constant. ii) Calculate the periodic time of the oscillations. iii) Calculate the maximum speed of the mass. iv) Calculate the speed of the mass when the displacement is 3.0 cm. v) Calculate the maximum energy of the mass. vi) Calculate the speed of the mass after 2.0 s. vii) If the mass of the spring is taken into account, explain qualitatively how this will affect the periodic time of the oscillations.
