For a bolted assembly with lubricated 8-M6 bolts, At-39.2 mm², the stiffness of each bolt (kb)is 1 MN/mm and the stiffness of the members (km) is 2.6 MN/mm. If each nut has been tightened using a 5.4 N-m torque and the preload caused by tightening accounts for 62.5% of the maximum load each bolt can be subject to. I (1) Find the maximum external load Pmax that this joint can be subjected to? (2) The proof strength of the bolt is 400Mpa, estimate Yielding factor of safety, load factor of safety and separation factor of safety of the joint under the Pmax calculated in (1). (3) The endurance strength of bolt is 90Mpa, tensile strength is 520Mpa, bolted joint experiences repeated load, where external load fluctuates between 0 and Pmax. Estimate Fatigue factor of safety using Goodman failure criterion. (Check the first cycle yielding)
