The results of a load test on a 0.45-m-diameter, 50-m-deep
concrete pile are shown in the table below. The pile has a steel
ratio of 0.02, and the 28-day compressive strength of the concrete
is 3 × 104 kPa. The displacements were measured at the
pile head.
a. use Davisson method to calculate the ultimate pile load
capacity and indicate it on the curve.
b. use Brinch-Hansen 90% criteria to calculate the ultimate pile
load capacity
c. A strain gauge was also instrumented at the bottom of the
test pile. At the average ultimate pile load capacity, a strain of
1.5 ×10−4 was measured. Compute the average unit side
friction resistance 𝑓𝑠 and the unit toe bearing
resistance 𝑓'n
