7. [15 Marks] Determine the design thickness of the concrete
slab of the rigid pavement portion of your road project. Follow the
AASHTO 1993 Pavement Design Guide. Notes: • Use the design
cumulative ESAL (W18) value already obtained. • Use reasonable
estimation of Design Reliability (R), Overall Standard Deviation
(So), Serviceability targets (Po and Pt), Drainage co-efficient
(Cd) - indicating the sources of information. • Use an “untreated
subbase” (find its layer thickness from Table 3) • Roadbed soil
CBR, concrete compressive strength (f ́c) are given in Table 3. •
Use concrete shoulder without Dowels and its related Load Transfer
Coefficient (J). • Draw your own lines on the attached example
