Traditionally, baseball teams depend on the experience of scouts
and managers to select new players. If you have read the book or
have seen the movie Moneyball, you know that the Oakland As under
Manager Billy Beane, used data analytics to recruit undervalued
players. Do you agree with the idea that data-driven decisions are
better than experience-based decisions? Can you think of some other
examples of data-driven decisions and how they worked?
