You are going to submit a position paper. It is an essay which expresses a position of contested issue related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. How do these SDG impact the Filipino and the Philippines.The purpose of the position paper is to showcase the angle of the topic you have well-researched and to convince the reader that your opinion is valid.
Outlining your paper and some tips.
Introduction – 1 paragraph only
Your introduction must contain your general statements and thesis statement. The thesis statement must be written as the last sentence of the paragraph. Set it in bold letters. This part should discuss the perspective of the source and acknowledge their viewpoint. Make use of in-text citations. The thesis statement should state your position and outline your arguments.
Body – At least 3 paragraphs
The body is the longest part of the essay and can contain as many paragraphs as necessary to support the ideas of your thesis statement. The body should be detailed and thorough and discusses the argument using supporting evidence. The second strongest point should be the first the weakest point should be buried in the middle and the strongest point should be the last. You may cite theoretical, historical, contemporary, and current events to support your arguments.
Conclusion – 1 paragraph only
The conclusion should contain the restatement or summary of the main points. Restate your thesis and strong pieces of evidence. Go over the importance of the topic but try not to be repetitive and do not introduce a new idea.
