Suppose that we are trying to test a hypothesis regarding a
population mean, 𝜇, of a normal population. The population standard
deviation is unknown. The null and alternative hypotheses are
chosen as follows. 𝐻0:𝜇=75 𝐻1:𝜇≠75.
We will use the sample mean, 𝑋̅, and the sample standard deviation,
𝑆, from a sample of size 17.
Set up the critical region for (𝑋̅−75)/(𝑆/√17) with 𝛼=0.05.
