Question One
A manufacturer of biscuits produces a large variety of different
flavours and types. One particular type, the Cream Shorty’s are
produced according to a normal distribution with a mean length of
4cm and a standard deviation of 0.2cm.
If the process produces biscuits which are too long they will
not fit in to the supplied packaging, if the are too short then the
company may be in breach of advertising regulations. To monitor the
process the manufacturer randomly selects 16 biscuits every 30
minutes and measures the average length of the biscuits in the
sample.
