We are interested in the U-shaped pipe below in which circulates
a flow of water at 25 ◦ C and in steady state with uniform velocity
profiles. In section (3), the flow turns into a free jet. Neglecting
the weight of the pipe and the water, determine the components
of the force F = (F x , F y ) required to hold the system in
place.
