Problem No. 7 Waste Load Allocation Studies in the Metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St. Paul were based on stream water quality model. Dye (Rhodamine WT) studies were conducted on the Mississippi River. Sample data measured at station 1 and at station 2 are provided. The river flow rate is Q = 131 m³/s and the average river cross-section area is A = 1254 m². (a) Determine the first and second temporal moments of the measured cross- sectional average concentration distribution. (b) Use the moments to predict the longitudinal dispersion coefficient in the river reach between sampling sites. The distance between the two sampling sites is 5.3 km. The location and extent of the reaches studied follows.
