Question 3 [35 Marks] A 6 m long unbraced steel wide flange beam (HE) is subjected to a point load (applied at the shear center). The moment diaphragm obtained from structural analysis is shown in Fig.3 and Table 1. Assume S235 steel with E-210GPa and G-81GPa. Based on the EC3, it is required to: (1) Size the beam section (HE) based on flexural buckling strength (Mb,Ra); (2) Check the shear strength; (3) Check the deflection under combined dead and live load (limit: L/250).
