A structure has 31 ft of soil on the left side with the water
table at the ground surface. On the right side there is 10 ft of
water above soil. The height of the structure is the same on
the left and the right. The unit weight of soils is 133 pcf.
Neglecting resistance along the bottom of the structure, what is
the factor of safety against sliding assuming full passive
resistance? Assume that movement of the structure is from left to
right. The soil friction angel is 30 degrees.
