Identify the six key forces health care workers should keep in
mind when developing forecasts for the future.
Answer:
The six key forces health care workers should keep in mind when
developing forecasts in the future are the following. The first is
new knowledge and technology, this being the main factor of
potential change in the healthcare system. New knowledge and
technology is emerging technology and medical know-how.
The second is known as income disparities which is an
intriguing prospect that newly found technologies and
“know-how” will only better medical care interventions and the
ability to care for patients while also keeping them healthy. After
reading more into this I found that a challenge will be if a
disparity within income will cause hard choices about the
adoptions of said technologies. If we were to decide to make all of
the technologies available to every American this would only result
in the government budgets struggling. The third is the
potential of creating a more vibrant culture of health. The
attention within the American healthcare system is mainly
focused on helping people live healthier lifestyles that will
reduce patients needing medical care and improve their quality of
life. The fourth is an aging population. The aging
population doesn't necessarily have a plan that'll meet
their needs within healthcare. This is due to there not being
enough people specializing in geriatrics. The fifth key force
is integration, consolidation, and other changes in how care
delivery is organized. The biggest unknown within healthcare is if
the efforts within integrated networks will occur on a large scale
and could potentially help healthcare outcomes. There is a
strategy set in place for improving efficiency of resource outcomes
of care but whether the variety of providers are functioning well
is still an unanswered question today. The sixth and final key
force is disruptive innovation. This is the final force within the
health system. A good example is urgent care and how rapidly they
were opened around the nation. These centers were created so that
entrepreneurs could gain market share from emergency rooms and
private practices. But Consumers are more interested in overall
care delivery approaches that can offer easier access along with
amenities. They need more patient-focused services.
