A 17.6 lb, 5 month old, intact male Jack Russell terrier is
presented for routine castration. His bloodwork and physical exam
are both WNL. We premed him with ace and butorphanol IM. Induction
is then performed using ketamine and diazepam IV. After intubation,
he is maintained on isoflurane inhalant. He is then clipped and
scrubbed and is given penicillin and ketophen SQ prior to be moved
into the surgical suite. Huis surgery is routine, as well as the
recovery period. He is sent home the following day on Rimadyl
orally for 7 days.
