The Case of Pierre Pierre will be going for a hip replacement. On the day of surgery, Pierre was given 2mg of cefazolin (appropriate dose) IV intra-operatively and orders were written to continue q day for a week. Six hours post surgery, you receive Pierre on the ICU unit. He has a double lumen PICC line and a Foley in place. His blood glucose taken on admission to the ICU (6 hours post-surgery) is >14mmol/L.
