Many states have implemented policies and programs to try to combat childhood obesity and lower the overall obesity rates in their area Please choose a policy or legislation that was implemented. Describe the overall policy, how it will be implmented and consequences of non-compliance. If available, indicate if there has been an impact on the obesity rates since it was put into place Do you feel the government should be more invovled in combating the obesity epidemic or do you feel it hinders our freedom of choice? How do you feel this country can better lower our overall obesity rates? Examples of policies that you can research (but not limited to) are: Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act, WIC, Menu Nutrition Facts Lebeling, Mandatory PE, Reducing Obesity in Youth Act, Healthy Kids Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Restriction of Food Advertising to Children and Safe Routes to School. There has also been restriction on vending machines, sale of junk food and implementation of healthy breakfast and lunch programs on a local level here on Long Island.
