CLINICAL SITUATION The nurse is assigned to Mrs. C, a 45-year-old female patient, who was in a motor vehicle accident. The medical history indicates that Mrs. C is from another country, and she was traveling alone on vacation. She has terminal lung cancer. The patient is conscious but in very critical condition. Per her request, a do-not-resuscitate (DNR) order is written. Her only son will arrive in 3 days.
