Web Based Education System: Uplearnsoc. A Capstone Project Proposal In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Information Technology
INTRODUCTION Advances in information technology, coupled with the changes in society, are creating new paradigms for education. Participants in this new educational paradigm require rich learning environments supported by well-designed resources (Reigeluth and Khan, 1994). The usage of Web technologies in educational contexts is changing the face of education. The World Wide Web has evolved into a helpful teaching medium, allowing students to engage in previously unavailable learning opportunities. Students can get instruction, prepare, and submit assignments, and ask questions of their tutors in a Web-based environment at any time and from any location, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They can take part in class discussions from the comfort of their own homes, or any nearby computer lab. Asynchronous Web-based courses not only eliminate time and geographical limits, but they also feature interactive dialogue that is unique to face-to-face classroom-based learning. According to (Dumford & Miller, 2018) as online education becomes more popular, many schools and institutions are looking at ways to best distribute course content to online students. Using data from the National Survey of Student Involvement, this study investigates how taking courses through an online medium affects student engagement. A series of ordinary least squares regression models were used to analyze the data, with important student and institutional factors controlled for. For both first-year students and seniors, the findings revealed multiple significant correlations between taking online courses and student involvement. Students who took more
correlations between taking online courses and student involvement. Students who took more online courses were more likely to use numerical reasoning. When compared to their more traditional classroom peers, they were less likely to engage in collaborative learning, student- faculty interactions, and discussions with a variety of people. Students who took more online courses reported less exposure to effective teaching methods and lower interaction quality. The link between these engagement markers and the number of classes taken online reveals that while an online environment may enhance some types of involvement, it may hinder others. Institutions should take these findings into account when creating online course content, and faculty should think about how to foster student involvement across a variety of distribution methods. This web-based education system would benefit the teacher and student since teaching will be done online, which student easily match teacher suitable for selected topic by student. This solution specifically aims to develop a fast matching to teacher by topic. It will also make easier for teacher and student to have video conference by not using third party video conference since it will be implemented to the web-based education system.
Objective of the Study . To develop an online platform: Web based education system for online tutors and students o The new method of learning and communication by using features of the system like messaging, video conferencing, writing on blackboard, e-wallet and grading system, but there are problems that the students encounter with these platforms like internet interruption, cheating and unable to cope with the lessons. The students, and parents are also needed to go to school just to get the copy of their class cards/grades and hard copy of their enrolled course subjects. . To allow tutor/student to write their lessons on screen(specific) o The students will allow to post lessons they want to learn and will be able to add specific description for a lesson they want to learn. Tutors can also post their pre made lessons to allow the system match the posted request by the student and to the post of the tutors To allow tutor/student to interact each other using video conferencing(specific) . To allow users to match their desired topics or lessons(specific) • To allow users to have a secure payment . To provide quick matching
