Project Title "Robotics Challenge" ✓ LO2: Learning Outcomes: Upon the accomplishment of this project the student should be able to: LO1: Write a literature review covering the topics of a specific project. Relate the theoretical information to practical, technical and financial aspects of a project. LO3: Discover and compare different projects design techniques. ✓ L04: Employ drawing, modeling and simulation tools to present project outcomes. LOS: Apply analysis and search techniques to discover project risks and health and safety aspects in engineering activities. ✓ L06: Convert a project brief into a practical design prototype. ✓ L07: Document the proposed solutions towards project achievement with the relevant verification and validation. ✓ L08: Maintain professional conduct as required in real-life engineering practice. ✓ L09: Develop project management skills individually and within a team. Portfolio Submission: To prove the accomplishment of all the pre-listed learning outcomes, you are requested to submit your complete portfolio before the deadlines mentioned in your course outline. At these dates, your portfolio should contain ALL compulsory items. For more details about these items and portfolio submission, refer to the course outline and MyLMS course homepage. Project Scenario: You are applying for a job at Robotics Intelligence Company (RIC) which is one of the market leaders in providing robotics solutions in multi-disciplinary sectors. As Robots are evolving rapidly in the last few years, this industry currently has a very high potential all over the world such that it's a dream for any fresh graduate like you to work in this company. When you applied for the job at RIC, you found yourself in a group of applicants who have applied for the same job. Mr. Mohamad Zaki the owner of RIC have surprisingly divided you into groups. Each group has 1/2 Electrical Engineering Department to build a robot to do certain functions, and the best robot in design and functionality will get the entire team hired. According to Mr. Mohamad this is the new way of interview. Robot requirements are listed below: The Robot must do black line tracking. The Robot must track light in the absence of the line. The Robot must detect the temperature of air, and play sound and light alarm if the temperature exceeded 40 °C. • The Robots must perform these tasks automatically without human intervention. A fully functional prototype of the robot has to be provided. • Full proof of concept must be demonstrated. Project's Main Objectives: ✓ Design the best, most creating and cost-effective robot. Define and meet the company's expectations and requirements. Provide your prototype and implement your proof of concept. ✓ Convince the judging committee with your solution against competitors.
