= = A watershed has sandy loan soil with the following Green-Ampt parameters: hydraulic conductivity (K) = 1 cm/hr, porosity (0) = 0.45, effective porosity (O2) = 0.41, wetting front suction head () = 11 (-cm) and effective saturation (0*) = 0.1. (a) Assume that there is continuous ponding (i.e., the time to ponding =0). Compute how long it would take for 5 cm of water to infiltrate into the soil. (b) Compute the depth of the wetting front (L) after 5 cm of water has infiltrated into the soil (Hint: F(t) = L* 40). (c) How do you think your results in parts (a) and (b) would change if the effective saturation is greater (i.e., if the soil is wetter at the start of the rainfall)? Explain briefly.
