TC60034E/21-22.Resit Question 2 (50 Marks) Design bored piled foundation for a bridge pier subjected to a vertical characteristic permanent load of 11000 kN and a vertical characteristic transient load of 4350 kN in a two layer of deep deposit of sandy soil with the water table at 40 m depth. The upper layer of sandy soil has a unit weight of y = 16 kN/m², c = 0 kPa and D' = 26'. Below this lies a dense sandy soil at a depth of 10 m of unit weight of y = 18 kN/m', d' = 0 kPa and O'= 330. Take the weight density of concrete of 24 kN/m'. i. Select the pile diameter and pile depth. Determine resistance of the single according to Eurocode 7 GEO ultimate limit state (Design approac combination 1). (30 marks) Design pile group and confirm that pile group resistance is greater than th load using Seiler-Keeney formula. (20 marks) ii.
