1. For the truss shown in Figure 1: a) Indicate the number of its members, joints and reaction forces. (3 marks) b) Using the relationship for defining the determinacy for pin-jointed frames indicate whether the structure is statically determinate or a mechanism. (3 marks) c) Draw the free-body diagram and calculate the support reactions. (4 marks) d) Using the method of joints calculate the magnitude of the forces in members AG, AB, BG, BC, GC and GE of the truss, indicating whether the member is in tension or compression. (15 marks) The values of Fx and Fy are different for each student and can be found in the excel file entitled "Loads Exam". This file is provided in the assignment in Canvas.
