Figure QI shows a cross section of a simply supported pretensioned beam of 12 m span. The beam is subjected to an imposed load of 8 kN/m, in addition to its self-weight. Three straight tendons are located at a distance of 75 mm from the bottom soffit. The cross sectional area of each tendon is 250 mm’ and the ultimate strength of the tendons is 1670 N/mm². The tendons are stressed up to 70%. Determine the stress at the tendon level of the beam at a distance of 6 m from the support. Assume unit weight of the concrete is 25 kN/m² 1100 150 600 150 150 500 150 Figure Q1
