Jane is preparing food for a party. Before she gets started, she washes her hands using the guidelines given in the textbook. She also makes sure she gets out separate cutting boards and utensils and sanitizes all food preparation tools and surfaces. She takes pork chops out of the freezer and allows them to thaw on the counter. She washes her hands again following the guidelines outlined in the textbook. While the pork chops thaw, she thoroughly washes a variety of vegetables that will be used for a salad. She washes her hands again following the guidelines outlined in the textbook. After the pork chops have thawed, Jane seasons them and puts them in the oven to cook. Again, she washes her hands using the guidelines given in the textbook. After 45 minutes she cuts a piece of a pork chop open (washing her hands prior to cutting the pork chop). The color looks good so she serves the food, and everyone eats around 7 p.m. Assuming her guests will want to eat more food later, she leaves everything on the table. At 11:00 p.m., the guests make a snack out of the leftovers. The next day, several of the party guests complain of nausea, diarrhea, and fever. 8.
