You have a new admission patient from the Emergency Department
(ED) who complained of frequent episodes of chest discomfort. He
has sublingual nitroglycerin to take to alleviate the chest
discomfort; he states that during the past week he experienced 8-10
episodes.
Along with the chest discomfort, he indicates that he’s had
increasing fatigue and ‘feels crappy all the time.’ The ED
physician determined that the client has unstable angina and needs
further diagnostics and possibly medical management.
Discuss the concerns with unstable angina and why the patient
needs treatment.
