Wastewater generated from a community with a flowrate of 1 m/min and a BOD concentration of 450 mg/L need to be treated before discharging into a receiving water body. A consultant has proposed to treat the wastewater using a completely mixed activated sludge system preceded by a primary sedimentation system. The proposed design for the activated sludge system is based on the following conditions: Microbial decay coefficient = 0.1 d' Maximum specific growth rate = 10 d!
