A plate is connected to another plate via 18 mm diameter
rivets. It carries a load of P=155 kN at a distance of (155+67) mm
from the rivet group's centroid. Assume a = 131 mm. (Hint: There is
no NSCP involved; therefore, load factors are omitted.) Identify
the following:
1. Shear stress (kPa) on each rivet due to force alone?
2. Shear stress (kPa) on each rivet due to torsion alone?
3. Shear stress (kPa) on the highly stressed rivet
