A network engineer is debugging a network connection problem for a computer on a public subnet that is unable to connect to the internet. The Engineer begins by SSHing into the instance through a local bastion inside the VPC and inspecting the IP addresses defined on the instance using the ifconfig command. The following is the output:

The Engineer observes that the result of the command does not include a public IP address. The public subnet has a route to the internet gateway in the AWS Management Console. Additionally, the instance has a public IP address.

What is the next step for the Engineer to troubleshoot this situation?
