During the design of controllers using the Ziegler ‐ Nichols
method for systems
overdamped dynamics, it is necessary to calculate the maximum
velocity (vm) of the response to
step and the time at which it occurs (tm).
From the following speed function v (t), in meters, of a
hydraulic actuator:
a) Calculate the time t in which the velocity is maximum (tm)
using the Newton-Raphson method with an error less than 0.05% in
Matlab
b) Calculate the maximum velocity (vm)
v(t) = 2.5e 21 +1.48e 41 – 3.99e-31
