1. A flat plate is heated to a uniform temperature of 100°C. Air at a pressure of 1 bar and temperature of 30°C is in parallel flow over its top surface. The plate is of length 0.25 m and width 0.15 m. The Reynolds number at the end of the plate is 40,000. Calculate the rate of heat transfer from the plate to the air. What will be the rate of heat transfer if the free stream velocity of the air is doubled and the pressure is increased to 10 bar? Assume that the air can be modelled as an ideal gas and that the pressure range considered the temperature change is negiligible. (Ans = 36 W; 294 W)
