QUESTION 1 1.1 Where are the commutating poles situated in a DC motor and how are they connected in the circuit? (2) 1.2 A 480 V, 35 kW, 850 r/min DC shunt motor has a full-load efficiency of 80%. The armature circuit resistance is 0,2 ohms and there is a total voltage drop of 1,8 V at the brushes. The field current is 1,4 A. Calculate the following: 1.2.1 The full-load line current (2) 1.2.2 The full-load shaft torque in Nm (5) 1.3 A 24 kW, 420 V, four-pole DC motor has a lap-wound armature with 788 conductors and the motor have 139 commutator segments. The full load efficiency is 88% and the shunt current is 1,6 A. The brushes are shifted backwards through 1,3 segments from the geometric neutral. Calculate the following: 1.3.1 The demagnetising ampere-turns per pole (8) 1.3.2 The cross-magnetising ampere-turns per pole (2) 1.4 Name ONE characteristic of DC motors. (1) [20]
