The loads at each point are: • Dead Load: 80 kN • Live Load: 50 kN P₁ 2.5 m The point loads are the only points of lateral restraint along the beam's top side. a) Determine the minimum acceptable depth of the beam. Ignore self-weight, and design to a L/360 live load deflection limit. Hint: Table 7.7 in CSA 086 may be required. 175 b) Determine the required length of bearing (Lb) at each end. If the beam requires a cantilever bearing plate, provide the requisite thickness.
